Spirituality: A Journey from Selfishness to Sacrifice to Pure Love

Spirituality is the journey from supreme selfishness to supreme sacrifice, ultimately leading to pure love of God. Initially, people tend to have a narrow view of life, primarily focusing on themselves and their close relatives.

Gradually, they may be inspired to serve their town, city, or community. As their sense of purpose expands, the meaning of their lives grows larger, filling them with greater enthusiasm and excitement. As people continue to evolve, they realize that serving their country brings even greater satisfaction.

With this broader purpose, they feel a larger sense of fulfillment, and their vigor and enthusiasm increase correspondingly. Eventually, people move beyond sectarian views. They wish to serve all of humanity without discrimination based on caste, creed, religion, or race. Their view of life expands, and with it, their satisfaction grows.

With further spiritual development, people begin to see all beings—animals, humans, birds—as souls, the essence of life itself. They now feel inspired to serve everyone, experiencing a greater joy than ever before.

The more people progress on this path, the more they aspire to serve God, the source of everything, the eternal and infinite sum total of all existence. They wish to love and serve the limitless yet accessible the loving Divine person Lord Sri Krishna. who is both the most beautiful and the closest.

This boundless love brings immense joy, as if they love and serve this being. Such joy is indescribable, and the spirit, enthusiasm, and joy become infinite when we serve the Infinite.
